"God, I will die for these children." - Pastor Lee Jong Rak I just had to share this documentary called The Drop Box. I watched it and I cried. I watched it again, and I cried again. I guess I like torturing myself because I watched it about 10 more times and continued sobbing... and that was just from watching the trailer.
The documentary is scheduled to be out later in 2013. Brian Ivie is behind the project, which has already won a couple of film festivals. It tells the story of a Korean pastor who built a wooden drop box at his home to help save orphaned babies. The documentary looks at abandonment in Korea and across the globe. Molly Holt is the first person you see in the trailer. For those of us who have a connection to Holt International or Korean adoption, you have an immediate reaction to seeing and hearing her. I was honored to have lunch with Molly in Korea in 1998 and to see her again at the International Forum in Washington, D.C. in 2011. She is an amazing woman-- one who has devoted her life to people like me. If only I could contribute to the world as much as she has. Oy. Grab some Kleenex and watch this trailer a couple of times.

I NEED to know where to get copies of the full documentary; also, where to send contributions. My heart has been broken and I have prayed much for the people of North Korea for many years; it took me totally by surprise that this was being done in South Korea. Of course, child abandonment is a global issue, I just did not realize the magnitude of it in Seoul. I will now include South Korea in my prayers for the Korean people.

This documentary has inspired me and also broken my heart. I'm only 19 years old and am currently attending Nursing school to get my RN degree so that i can travel the world to help orphans. I really want to watch this whole documentry. I feel like God showed me an article on it for a reason. In summer 2015 i will be coming to Korea to live, and if the baby box is still going on i would love to volunteer my time with Pastor Lee helping to take care of these babies and children.
