It's so great to be in Korea this weekend! Okay, not so much. More like Dallas. But we've spend so much time in the Korean shopping district that it might as well have landed in GMP than DFW.
Jim and I are here because we've been asked to serve with a Korean heritage camp this summer. We spent the morning on a panel with other adoptees and their families. We talked about some of the positives of adoption as well as some challenges... and the perspectives came from siblings, married couples and parents. It was really neat to hear my husband's perspectives on some things we'd never talked about! Anyway, I'll post more info and pics on my other site for anyone who wants to hear more about the camp.

Some people call them beauty marks. Others call them ugly moley, moley moles. One viewer thinks I'd be better looking without mine. Check out the handwritten, anonymous letter I received this week in the mail! At first, I thought the note read "black male", so I was really confused! Anyway, I do actually think there have been some lovely "beauty marks" in American pop culture. Of course, there are times when moles go bad... but I don't think I'm there yet... am I wrong? Anyway, sorry guys... the mole is staying as long as it's a healthy one. I would rather have this mole than a scar any day. And feel free to send more mole mail to: 322 Shipyard Boulevard, Wilmington, NC 28412. I think this "fan mail" had good intentions, but something went wrong!
It's a little funny I'm writing about the Junk Food Guy when my last post was about fitness, but this is a delectable delight for the eyes and the lips! For me, more so the eyes (since I won't be eating any junk food...) but anyway... My friend's name is Eric. And would you believe, in his real life, he's pretty impressive, too? He graduated from Princeton and American Universities and spends his 9-to-5 hours prosecuting people in federal cases. Apparently, the JFG needs a little release. So... of course he should talk about junk food! What the JFG can do for you: He can test out your favorite junk foods... or just your curiosities. Then he'll blog about it. Genius. I like his focus.
I want him to test out Wasabi Doritos! I saw them at Costco and about freaked out. I love wasabi... but wasabi chips? My friend and WRAL's Renee Chou tweeted a big YUCK! I thought it was... interesting, but I'd love to see what the Junk Food Guy says! Send him your suggestions, too! I can tell I'm definitely getting stronger. Last time I worked out with my trainer (Crest Fitness' Adam Freeman), I did 45 REAL pushups. They weren't pretty... but more importantly, they weren't modified. And just a few weeks ago, I probably couldn't do more than five! But something I found interesting... Adam said it takes less time to get in shape than it does to get out of shape. Meaning, it usually takes years for a person to become an unhealthy weight. You may only gain 2 pounds a year, but after a couple of decades, it adds up. Bo Dean will tell you it took him years to get into the predicament he was in before losing more than 100 pounds. Adam helped Bo lose more than 100 pounds in about a year. Now, that's inspiring! What are you going to do today?
My friend Joanna Small is in town for a visit! After a workout with my trainer Adam Freeman, we all three went down to the beach to check out the Sweetwater Pro-Am Surf Fest! The surfers are amazing!! And, I got a cool sweatband from Skullcandy! If you want to check out the surf scene, you've got until Sunday to check it out at Wrightsville Beach. It's free and fun... |
