One of the most compelling stories to come out of Hurricane Sandy so far, is the loss of the tall ship, HMS Bounty. It has been an iconic tall ship, one that has been a star in its own right in movies like Mutiny on the Bounty and Pirates of the Caribbean. Now, it is lost forever at sea. 16 people were on board at the time. 14 of them were hoisted to safety by brave Coast Guard members - some from Elizabeth City and Wilmington. A 15th person was found unresponsive a few hours later. Sadly, she died. Now as the ship sinks to the bottom of the ocean, the captain is also missing. Capt. Robin Walbridge did an interview with my husband last May in Wilmington. Jim really liked meeting him. His life was with the ship. That's why to me, it is sad, yet, poetic that the two have not been found. I'm still hoping for the best, but if he loved the sea and the boat, then he was already home. You can read more on the ship's Facebook page.

Such a tragedy- my husband and I took our children to see this ship when it was here. So heartbreaking and almost surreal. My heart goes out to the crew and families of those who died.
