#TBT to my general assignment reporting days, working with my (now) husband, Jim Our coverage on a Nixa tornado received a regional Emmy but we were just thankful everyone survived the storm. There are few stories more adrenaline-inducing than covering breaking weather. We would often go into wall-to-wall coverage for tornado outbreaks. The best scenario would be to have no injuries, but often we'd see injuries and real destruction. One thing I learned from covering so many tornadoes -- keep multiple digital copies of your favorite pictures. They can never be replaced. This is one of the liveshots we did that day. This is from the noon newscast. My husband had to use 3 spools of cable to get us from the bottom of the basement to the top floor of the house. People in the news will recognize what an effort that is! I was still pretty green in this liveshot, too.
