Charles Hawkesworth says he needs reconstructive facial surgery because parts of his skull are fractured. There are two and three sides to every story. But, what we know for sure is that a cab driver in Surf City was severely beaten by a Marine on September 9th. The owner of the cab said it was over a misunderstanding on how sharing cabs work. The owner of Island Taxi added cameras to the taxis, and one captured an angry Marine punching a cab driver several times in the face. I have a friend who received a misdemeanor when he was caught urinating into a bush outside a parking garage when he was 17...but I never would expect another person-especially someone who isn't a minor, to get anything less than a felony for clearly threatening and assaulting someone. I'm completely at a loss as to what more I can say.

There are no words... what he did to you JR should put him behind bars for a long, long time. I wish for you a speedy, painless as possible recovery. I wish he would have to be responsible for ALL your medical expenses and any other expense associated with this. Really would like to see the video from start to finish w/o media interruptions though. Not that I want to see the beating, it's so hard to watch... I just cringe the whole way through it, but just to see how that maniac escalates the situation himself. It's obvious you did nothing but try to calm him & the situation. He was a drunk, out of control man. He was trained to fight & protect himself to the fullest when deemed necessary but sadly now can't decipher when it's really necessary. He needs help for that yes, BUT that is no excuse for him not being charged with a felony. Yes, he only hit you with his fists, so no deadly weapon charge will be filed. But in all actuality, when you're trained like he has been, HE should be considered a deadly weapon! You have to live w/ the scars from that night for the rest of your life and so should he! A couple piss ant charges won't follow him like your scars and memories will. I'm thankful from the bottom of my heart for our Marines & all other men/women who serve & protect our country but this maggot, needs to be put away & charged to the fullest! Thoughts and prayers from Illinois!
