Sometimes it's nice to just get in the car and drive. I can't tell you how blessed we are to live in such a beautiful part of the country. I mean, you could be halfway to Charleston by the time you get done running to the grocery store. There are endless mini-road trip possibilities. This year we were fortunate enough to go to Charleston with some friends during the first week of January. We had an incredible time exploring the city, whether we were taking on delinquent spirits at the haunted jailhouse or taking on our own demons with a morning jog to The Battery. As pretentious as it may sound, we had a very lovely time. Aside from Charleston, there are some really incredible 30-minute drives around the area. My parents and I recently took a little drive down to Southport. We fed the seagulls, walked the pier (burrr) and ate at a little waterfront cafe. We didn't have any particular plans-- we just plugged a generic address into our GPS... and ended up at 123 Main in Southport. I highly recommend it. So... where will your GPS take you? I vowed I wouldn't be one of those people who live at the beach and never go, but recently I've found myself asking my husband, "When was the last time we went there for a walk?" My resolution in 2012 will not only be to get healthier and save money, it will also be to make myself enjoy life more. Whether it's braving a new dive or plugging in 123 Main Street on my GPS... this is the year!
