You know, here we are in the thrust of the holidays, and as happy as many people are, there are some families who can't get into the holiday spirit.
I'm writing because I just received some fairly dark news, and it took me back to a place when the holidays were very difficult for my family.
I am not comfortable with sharing our story, but several years ago I lost two family members on Thanksgiving weekend. It was sudden and could have been prevented. It shook our family so much that many of us don't speak anymore. Our glue was gone.
So, while I'd love to write a long post today about feelings, I'm just going to hold off and remind others that everyone is going through something. Help a loved one, a co-worker, or even a stranger... if they have appear to be having a hard time dealing with all of this holiday cheer. And, try to spread some understanding this holiday season. You never know what's going on with folks behind closed doors.
That said, have a great Thanksgiving. I'm really looking forward to just resting with my family and being grateful.
