There are a lot of special guests reading at areas schools today. I spent the morning with Suzanne Jalot from Z107.5 FM! She and I read two books at Sunset Park Elementary in partnership wtih the Junior League of Wilmington. The purpose of Read Across America is to encourage kids to read more! Research shows that kids who read more tend to do better in school. We want kids to become lifelong readers. I loved our group! The kids seemed to enjoy both the books Suzanne and I read. Plus, the Junior League donated a Shel Silverstein book to the class so they could read it later. (And, thanks for the hugs!) Those kids were really great. By the way, it was such a great effort by the League-- it was so nice to see so many local leaders. Firefighters, actors, parents and more... and also, thanks to Front Street Brewery for donating some pretty rad brownie cakes. Too bad those aren't on the menu!

Yes!! Mrs Hufham's class at Howe Pre-K had z107.5's Matt Murphy read 'The Cat in the Hat' to them and then the ENTIRE school marched in a Dr. Suess parade that celebrated his many books! So cool!!
