My ears are still loving me for going to the Chords for a Cause concert.  I was really looking forward to listening to Vanessa Carlton sing with the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra.  BUT.  Edwin McCain stole my heart.

I have to be honest.  When he released "I'll Be" back in 1998, I really wasn't a big fan.  BUT - hearing him LIVE changed my opinion.  First of all, hearing it live made me realize what a pretty song it is - and how difficult it is to actually sing.  Edwin McCain won my heart ten times over at Chords for a Cause.  For one, he's a really incredible musician.  His voice is such a special instrument.  He's also really funny.  He sucks you in with great stories and really makes you feel like you're a friend.  He is also an adoptee. (Whhhaaaa??)

He told a great story of how his two sons are only 7 months apart and what it's like to share the story of adoption first-hand with his oldest son.  He also talked about the Heart Gallery - which is something I was involved with in the Midwest.  I nearly cried when he was talking about his family, but I was not about to blow snot with so many people around me!  He sang this song (Letter to My Mother) after sharing his adoption story:

I think I've overused the word "amazing" in this post, but the night was pretty amazing.  From the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra to the Hoggard High School students... even the presentation from Canines for Service (I DID actually cry during that presentation.)  Everything was put together so well.  It was such a meaningful event, and I'm glad I got to be there!  Special thanks to the founder and organizer Damian Brezinski and the conductor of the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, Rudi Schlegel.  What a great night!
