Thank you so much for the nice shoutouts and texts. I love you guys! As usual, there was so much I wanted to say and blanked out. Also, you'd think a person involved with social would be on top of it, but my phone actually died and my backup power source was on 0%. So, thanks to my friend Kim Chappell for snapping the above pic! And HUGE congrats to her for receiving an Emmy for her incredible story. On a serious note, I wanted to say something like this: Relevant social media matters more than ever. I'm thankful I get to work in a newsroom that allows me to experiment and do things no one else in the industry is doing. What we do matters... and it can sometimes be the only way to deliver life-saving information. Special thanks to my news director Colin Benedict, our channel 3000 managing editor Kyle Geissler, our social media editor Jen Ayres and our former EP Jess Laszewski who helped make it happen. But also, thanks to our newsroom for being so foward thinking. My husband, Jim, is my life support and everything I do is for him... plus my parents who are watching the livestream and have helped support me my entire life... especially in news. ANYWAY. Something like that. The best part about working near Chicago is catching up with old friends. Jim was so happy to see Chris Coffey, an old Missouri pal now at NBC Chicago. What a great night! It was a wonderful awards ceremony. I've had the honor of being in several Emmy regions now, and though they're all incredible, Chicago was very impressive. Whether or not you take home a trophy, it's always nice to be invited to the party. And now time to move forward!
