Before I even bought the Pop Tarts, I asked on Facebook and Twitter... "Is this a good deal?" I had dozens of comments in a matter of minutes. Thank you! It helped! That's because normally, I try to stick to a '50-cents or less' rule. This week you can get Pop Tarts for 97-cents a box, though some people said you could get them for about 80-cents. Either way, everyone said it was a good deal, so I bought some! I'm sure my husband can't wait to try the S'mores PTs. See the breakdown here Anyway, I do like going "group grocery" shopping, like we did for the Pop Tarts. And, I think the weekly segment is catching on - today, the person in front of me in line said he watches... and the clerk said, "I watch every Thursday! If you're not watching Michelle's Markdowns, you're missing out!" It made my heart melt. That...and the savings. I went to Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter, and even though it wasn't my BEST week, I still saved money on things I wanted. My favorite deal is the hummus - only 75-cents with a printable coupon! Also, I can't turn down laundry detergent for $1.99, even though it's not my favorite brand. I'll use this detergent for my towels and stuff. And... I need to give credit where credit is due. For the first time in a while, Lowes Foods had my most favorite deals. A lot of Harris Teeter deals were repeats (and, that was, like...so last week!) In all, I spent $22.05 with tax for $66.23 of goods. If you don't account for tax, that's about a 70-percent savings. Like I said, not my best week, but I did get some good deals. I could live without the Totino's but I picked that up for the news segment. For 50-cents a box, I can give it to somebody. On a side note - I always say this - I know you can't live off this food, but I'd rather have a little junk food in the house, then splurge at McDonald's. We always try to eat clean, whole foods. But, at the same time, we don't drink alcohol, we rarely eat out... so I think it's about moderation and picking your poison. And again, I'll try just about anything for 50-cents or less.
