The last teen angst show I watched was probably "My So Called Life", but I will definitely tune into "Star-Crossed" when it debuts on the CW February 17th.

The show takes places in the future when a group of teens from an alien colony integrates into a high school in Louisiana.  They've been living in a special military-guarded camp since their space ship crashed on Earth, and now humans and aliens are trying to co-exist.  

It's atrians vs. humans... and yes, there is a love story or two among them.

So, why am I watching?  Well, it looks interesting.  I mean, like, I've totally moved on from vampires.  

But I'll also be tuning in because I worked on the show as it was being shot in New Orleans.  My agent called me and asked for a last-minute audition.  The next thing you know, I was being flown from North Carolina to New Orleans to play a reporter.  It's hardly a big stretch or a big role...but for a journalist, it's kind of fun to change things up.  

I flew to New Orleans, checked into the W Hotel, hung out for a night... and then woke up the next morning for a call time around 5 a.m.  It may have even been earlier.

It was fun because I had some extreme hair and makeup... though I don't think it will really show on TV as extreme, especially since I literally speak half a sentence.

I met some awesome people.  Aimee Teegarden and I met in hair and makeup. We didn't talk long, but she was very sweet.  I also enjoyed talking to Chelsea Gilligan, who has a strong connection to the Ozarks in Southwest Missouri.  

But, one of the highlights?  After working, I went to a little sushi place by myself and saw a girl who looked familiar.  Turns out, she was a good friend of mine in high school!  I couldn't believe my eyes... it was my friend Nicole, who I literally hadn't seen in years.

She and I went to high school together.  I was friends with her older brother and spent much of my senior year carting her around during her freshman year.  I had no idea she moved to Louisiana, but we just picked up where we left off.  I actually ended up running around New Orleans with her gaggle of fun friends.  It was so cool to see the city from a local perspective.

The next morning I was dead tired, but, it was one of those experiences that reminds you how joyful life can be.  I hope the show is a success!  I didn't have much to do with the pilot, but it was a really cool life moment.

My favorite boots of the season came straight from a website (that I think is Korean or Chinese) that is pretty good!  It's called yesstyle.com... and though I was afraid of ordering from abroad, I had a pretty normal experience.

It was nothing fancy or out of the ordinary, but it's kind of cool to see what's in style in Korea and Japan..

I only ordered shoes because shoes I know will always fit.  I can't speak to the company's return policy, but there are a lot of customer service options... and bloggers that some of you may recognize, like Jackie Chu.

Anyway - I thought it was worth checking out!  I have had my boots since November, and I still like them.  They are nice and warm for the winter!
