Thanks to smart shopper, Mare G., I started my own journey of smart shopping. She is amazing at saving. Recently, I asked people to show me their stockpiles... and Mare delivered! You can read more about her awesome shopping trips on her Facebook page, I Got It Free with Coupons. It's highly-recommended reading. "Well, this is part of my stock pile. It rotates from time to time depending on what I use and give away. I'm fortunate enough to have learned the art of couponing, and even more fortunate enough in these tough times to be able to help others," said Mare.
SHOW ME YOUR STOCKPILE! And win big! I'm working on a plan at Fox Wilmington to get people to save money and live better... I just really can't announce it yet because some of it is still in development. But, if you show me your stockpile or a recent shopping trip (and break down the savings), I'll keep track of it for a later prize. Either share it here on my website... or on FoxWilmington.com under the hot shots! Look forward to seeing all that you can do!

If you've been reading my website, you already know what an effort I've made to start saving money. And the response has been tremendous! What I think is amazing is the knowledge and kindness coming out of our own community. I drove into work today to catch up on a few things...and look what I found sitting on my desk! It's a coupon binder from Delly's Deals! Delly has been one of my coupon coaches, and this year, I hope to share her knowledge with you. Delly hosts coupon workshops, too. Her next one is Saturday, January 21st at the Northeast Regional Library in Wilmington at 1 p.m. The cost is $12. [READ MORE ABOUT THE WORKSHOP] You know, when I told my parents that I was couponing... my dad snickered to my mom and said, "This is the girl who wouldn't even shop at Walmart when she was a kid and now she wants to coupon." "Yup." But, I got tired of seeing my money being thrown away. It seemed like every trip to the store would be $100 or more. A trip to Costco or Sam's could easily cost $200 if I wasn't paying attention. It just seemed like madness... and really, I am surprised I kept it up for so long. But, this year, my husband is going back to school. We are getting ready to start a family (God willing). And so, all of my focus is going to saving money, paying off debt, and getting ahead. So, I think my dad will get a kick out of the things to come this year. Hope you'll join me, too! Being on vacation doesn't keep me from working hard for my money! I've spent the last few days brainstorming ways to save money in the New Year. And, I've also been thinking of ways to make the information more accessible to anyone who might want to know for themselves...or for others. We have a TON of local coupon bloggers and smart shoppers who can really help you... I ask them questions when I need help! [***SHOW ME YOUR STOCKPILE!***] If you read the last post, then you know it's Harris Teeter Super Doubles week. It's great if you have a coupon for $1.98 or less because it will double. If the item is on sale, then there's a good chance you'll get it for free. In some cases, you may even get back money. I spent around $12 for $60 worth of products. Here's the breakdown. What does that mean? It means Harris Teeter will double coupons up to $1.98. (Uh. Super. Double.) It also means some hard core couponers will be at HT at 7 a.m... and some exhausted grocery store workers will need a massage by the end of the week. [SEE THE COUPON MATCHUPS] The sale starts on January 4th and will run until next Tuesday. According to Southern Savers, here are a few things you can get for free this week: Bumble Bee Tuna, 5 oz. can Margaret Holmes Collard Greens, 14 oz can Burt's Bees All-in-one wash Mission Ready to Cook Tortillas Oscar Mayer Lunchables Smart Balance Milk Horizon Organic Milk Singles Mueller's pasta Also, there are a bunch of items that will be less than $1, like Truvia for less than a quarter. NEWBIE NOTES: This is apparently why you collect coupons. I tend to call my collection the "coupon arsenal." I am still a newbie, but it seems a lot of people get amped about these super double days. |
