Have you ever experienced the joys of ice fishing? When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When you live in Wisconsin, that means you grab a pole, like this surly fella. I watched him catch the daily limit in bluegill!
We were lucky enough to be invited by a couple of friends, Jess and Jay... who took us out on Lake Monona in Madison. It's not as easy as it looks. You have to drill a hole. I had Jim drill mine with an auger.
Jay taught me how to do a fisherman's knot. I swear my dad and grandpa have taught me this very thing.
Jess and Jay each caught one fish. We gave them to some other folks on the ice.
Jess and I thought ice fishing might be more social... but we might have to go to one of those shanty towns to get that! Maybe Lake Winnebago?
Still, I can't wait to do it again... I mean, next year. Right now, I'm just glad the ice is disappearing!
