Just wanted to send a quick shoutout to some lovely women in Madison. The women of Kappa Alpha Theta at the University of Wisconsin just celebrated 125 years on campus. What a tremendous celebration! Here is a pic from a recent Theta event. I'm glad I got to stop by the house, learn the history of the local chapter and meet Theta alumnae who now live in the Madison area. These women put together some great community events and it's nice to put a face with a name. Congrats to the women of Kappa Alpha Theta!

I can't wait to share this story with our viewers! We are on the hunt for better food -- could you kill the food you eat? I am so thankful for Hilary -- she let me follow her through the whole process. She wanted to learn how to hunt and to see if she could do it. News 3 photojournalist Brian Mesmer also gets major props - he came in on his days off to help make this happen. And of course, special thanks to the folks at the DNR and the hunting mentors. Hope you'll watch at 10! We are so thrilled to be headed into the championship game but we are very tired. We are now putting together another 1-hour special that will air Monday night before the game and still working for each newscast. I hope the team is getting lots of rest! We're averaging about 4 hours a night. In the meantime, let's all bring home a W!
We're at the point where we have no more live shots to do until after the Badger game. We've taken countless selfies (kidding), done a 100 liveshots and even made a few new friends.
One of the highlights of the trip? A woman came up to me to tell me she followed the road trip we took down to Indy!
I loved seeing Amber Philpott of WKYT in Lexington -- we basically have the same job. I met her last year and it was so nice to see her again. She has been on the road for three weeks! I thought a week was a lot to take in. She did kind of slip up and say something to me about shooting stories on Sunday to work ahead for Monday... and I thought -- not if you lose! :) I didn't say anything so if she reads this, I hope it makes her laugh.
We also had a nice 1-hour special called Return 4 The Title. Pulling off those 1-hour live shows are always interesting but we manage to get it on air. Of course, it was nice getting to hang out withWKBT's Mike Thompson for a bit -- it was a quick intro but it was nice nonetheless!
And then there's Dannika. Enough said.
She "borrowed" my phone and took a handful of selfies! People have been coming up to me saying, "I've never seen a selfie stick in real life!" but they always seem like they want to get one by the end of the conversation. I don't just use them for selfies, but sometimes they're really great to take pictures of crowds because you can extend the monopod way into the air. (See the video below!)
Dannika and I met a lot of fans at the pep rally Saturday and we've just had a ball talking to so many Badger fans this week. We love you guys!
Days 2 and 3 were quite the whirlwind. First of all, I've had a blast covering the Final Four. Of course, we are ready to play at this point (and catch some sleep!) It was incredible to see my dear friend Renee Chou, the morning anchor for WRAL in Raleigh. It's so amazing how this career has allowed me to meet so many wonderful people. Renee and I have known each other for years and I loved living near her in North Carolina. She's so smart and beautiful and she beaming as a new mom. I wasn't expecting to see her and when my co-worker bumped into her and told me about it, I literally started crying out of excitement... and reached out to her immediately. Just love her! We've also had fun running amok every now and then. We went to the media dinner at the Fan Fest last night and tried to play a few of the games. That is the foul part of this post because needed more practice! I demand a rematch! Dannika has a pretty great swing, right? News 3 photojournalist Lance Heidt tried to conquer the buzzer beater -- he did make a 3 pointer with 4 seconds to go! (SPOILER: Just not in this video) Another foul? Thursday's weather. At first we thought it might be severe, but really it ended up being just a heavy downpour. We actually lost the satellite signal for a bit but were fine by the time we needed to be on air. But let's end this post on an upswing. Going back to the friends theme, we've made some really awesome new ones. That is the one thing I love about covering these kinds of events. Go Badgers! Day 1 was a doozy. Lance Heidt and I were told to head down to Indy but try to do a story on some roadside attractions along the way. There wasn't any pressure to get there but I was a little anxious. I researched a ton of tourist attractions and tried to find ones I thought would be close to the interstate and decent for television. We had a nice time driving the six hours to Indy and we met a lot of great people along the way. And even better? After our liveshots were done for the evening, we met up with a very good friend of mine, Robb Ellis. You can catch him as the evening meteorologist on WISH-TV. We anchored together in North Carolina and I just love this guy! Lance and I had a nice dinner with Robb and Scott and it was a perfect way to end our day. Can't wait for day 2!
